• Be at least 21 years old
• Have knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
• Have approval from owner of residence (written lease)
• Have a valid ID with current address
• Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by GSR
• Must have a brief trial to ensure the fit is satisfactory

Process:

• Fill out an application. You can complete the application on- line at www.gsdrescue1.org or have it mailed to you if you call 847/677-0561 and leave your name, address and phone number. It can be faxed to you if you call or email gsrescue1@comcast.net with your fax number.
• Understand that several applicants may be interested in the same dog and it can only go to one home. German Shepherd Rescue makes the decision with best interest of the dog in mind. A decision to place the dog in someone else's home in no way implies that your home would not be a wonderful home for one of our dogs. We are merely trying to make the best decision for the particular dog.
• Talk with the Adoption Coordinator. Please realize that the final decision to place the animal is determined by the Coordinator with the adoption committee after all the above requirements are met.
• We expect all fostered dogs to attend each scheduled adoption event to assess their progress. Check the Events page of the web site.
